Stealing Spines – Self Titled Review

Stealing Spines - Stealing Spines album cover

Tampa, Florida hardcore-punk outfit, Stealing Spines, released their self-titled EP at the end of 2014 and have given the people of Tampa a reason to bang our heads very angrily for the entirety of 2015.  This EP punches you in the gut with raw and gritty hardcore that makes you just want to destroy the nearest solid object in your path.

The 6-song EP starts off with the mesmerizingly hectic song “It’s Been a Long Week,” a song packed to the brim with blast beats, chaotic yet ultra rhythmic guitar and bass work, and ever-punishing vocals. The album continues with one of the singles from the EP “Eye Level” a hardcore fan’s perfect mosh song, with driving guitars, pounding bass and drums, and of course a few nasty breakdowns.

The EP continues to drive harder and harder until the very end, literally never giving you a break from the relentless pounding of the music until it comes to an end. You wont stop banging your head for the entirety of the 15-minutes it will take to finish this hardcore classic. The songs will get stuck in your head and you will have many of them on repeat for months.

This EP is free on bandcamp but you should strongly consider paying whatever you can for it to help these talented kids keep doing what they love. Like them on facebook and try to catch them live for an awesome show.

Long Live Cloud House.
